Waterline — Support

Waterline is a water tracker built around one idea: logging a drink should take one tap. Your own bottles and glasses sit on the main screen, and tapping one logs it.

Questions, bugs, or feature requests: developer.cloud26@gmail.com

I read every message, and most get a reply within two business days. If you’re reporting a bug, telling me your iPhone model and iOS version helps a lot.

There is no account to recover and no password to reset — Waterline has neither.

Common questions

My drinks aren’t appearing on my other device

Waterline syncs through your own private iCloud, so both devices need to be signed in to the same Apple Account, with iCloud turned on for Waterline. Check Settings › your name › iCloud on each device.

Sync usually arrives within a minute, and a device that has been offline catches up the next time it has a connection. There is nothing to set up and no account to create — if iCloud is available the log syncs, and if it isn’t, the app works exactly the same on that device alone.

My reminders aren’t arriving

Waterline’s reminders are tied to anchors — moments in your day that you pick, like waking up, lunch, or finishing a workout — rather than a fixed hourly buzz. Open Reminders in the app to see which anchors are on.

An anchor you keep dismissing goes quiet on its own, and tells you it has. That is deliberate: a reminder you swipe away every day is a reminder that isn’t working. You can turn it back on from the same screen whenever you like.

If you’re getting none at all, check iOS Settings → Notifications → Waterline and make sure Allow Notifications is on. Waterline re-checks this every time you open it, so once it’s enabled the schedule rebuilds itself.

I bought Pro but it isn’t unlocked

Open Settings in the app and tap Restore purchase. Pro is a one-time purchase tied to your Apple Account, so it restores on any device signed into the same account, and you will never be charged twice.

If it still doesn’t unlock, check you’re signed into the same Apple Account that made the purchase, then email me.

Does Pro renew? Will I be charged again?

No. Waterline Pro is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. There is nothing to cancel and nothing that renews.

What’s free, and what’s in Pro?

Most of it is free, permanently — not for a trial period. That includes logging, editing or deleting any drink including the day and time it happened, your whole history, Home and Lock Screen widgets, Apple Health, every reminder, your daily goal, habit strength and the weekly recap.

Pro adds depth rather than unlocking the basics: nine vessel styles, drinks of your own with hydration factors you set, container sets you swap by context, a goal that moves with your workouts and your climate, ninety days of trends, and CSV export.

The full comparison is built into the app: Settings → What’s free, what’s Pro.

I turned on Health but nothing appears in the Health app

iOS does not tell an app whether you granted or denied Health permission — by design, so apps can’t detect a refusal and pester you about it. That means Waterline genuinely cannot tell you whether it’s working, and won’t pretend to.

To check or change it: Health app → Sharing → Apps → Waterline. Turn on the categories you want Waterline to write or read.

What does Waterline read from Health, and why?

Only if you turn on the hydration estimate. It reads body mass, energy burned, workouts, heart rate, walking and running distance, sleep, and your date of birth and biological sex — the inputs the published hydration equations need.

All of it is used on your device to compute the numbers you see. None of it is stored by the app, included in your export, or sent anywhere. Details are in the privacy policy.

I already have water logged in Apple Health — can I bring it in?

Yes, and it’s free. In Settings, use Bring in your existing Health water. It imports what is already there, once, whole, with nothing held back.

Switching between mL and fl oz — will I lose anything?

No. Waterline stores everything in millilitres and converts only for display, so switching units changes what you see and never your data or your history.

How do I change my containers?

Tap and hold a container on the main screen to edit it — its name, size and icon — or use the row’s edit mode to drag them into a different order. You can have up to five containers on the row.

An icon is a label on a vessel and doesn’t change the arithmetic: a coffee-labelled container still logs its full volume, unless you have given that drink a hydration factor of your own.

How do I delete everything?

Settings → Delete All Data. It removes every entry from the device and from your iCloud, so it goes from your other devices too. There is no copy anywhere else, because there is no server.

If you want a copy first, export it — CSV export is part of Pro.

Are the Insights medical advice?

No. Waterline is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, or give medical advice. The Insights screen reports patterns in your own data, and every card says plainly what it cannot tell you. If something about your health concerns you, speak to a clinician.

Privacy

Waterline collects nothing. No account, no server, no analytics, no third-party code. Your drinks are stored on your device and in your own private iCloud, which we hold no key to and cannot read.
