Ballast — Support

Ballast is a strength log built around one idea: every set is already filled in at the weight and reps you did last time, so logging it is one tap.

Questions, bugs, or feature requests: developer.cloud26@gmail.com

I read every message, and most get a reply within two business days. If you’re reporting a bug, telling me your iPhone model and iOS version helps a lot.

There is no account to recover and no password to reset — Ballast has neither.

Common questions

My workouts aren’t appearing on my other device

Ballast syncs through your own private iCloud. Both devices need to be signed in to the same Apple Account, with iCloud sync on in Me → iCloud sync — it is on unless you have turned it off. The row tells you what it is doing, and a change to it takes effect the next time Ballast is opened.

A device that has been offline catches up the next time it has a connection. If iCloud isn’t available, Ballast works exactly the same on that device alone.

I bought Pro but it isn’t unlocked

Open Me and tap Restore purchase, under YOUR DATA. Pro is a one-time purchase tied to your Apple Account, so it restores on any device signed into the same account, and you will never be charged twice. Family Sharing is on.

If it still doesn’t unlock, check you’re signed into the same Apple Account that made the purchase, then email me.

Does Pro renew? Will I be charged again?

No. Ballast Pro is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. There is nothing to cancel and nothing that renews.

What’s free, and what’s in Pro?

Logging is free, permanently: unlimited workouts, three plans, every set type, swapping an exercise for the day, the rest timer, plate math, warm-up sets, supersets, a note on any lift, the Apple Watch app, Home and Lock Screen widgets, Siri and Shortcuts, Apple Health, and CSV export and import.

Pro adds automatic progression — the weight goes up when you have earned it, and a deload that asks first when you stall — reps in reserve, unlimited plans and custom exercises, and your full history and charts instead of the last three months.

Using the Apple Watch app

Open Ballast on your iPhone first, so the watch has a plan to show. Today’s workout then appears on the watch. Turn the Digital Crown to change a weight — for a barbell or dumbbell lift it only offers weights your plates and dumbbells can make — and tap the check to log the set.

Sets you log on the watch are kept on the watch until your iPhone receives them, so nothing is lost if your phone is in a locker. The corner of the screen shows how many are waiting.

The rest timer, and its notification

Rest starts on its own when you log a set, and runs on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, so the phone can go back in your pocket. The “Rest finished” alert can be turned off in Me → Reminders; the Lock Screen timer in iOS Settings → Ballast → Live Activities.

I turned on Apple Health but nothing appears there

Ballast adds a workout to Health when you finish a session, not while it is running. iOS does not tell an app whether you granted permission — by design — so to check or change it go to Health app → Sharing → Apps → Ballast.

Ballast only writes to Health. It reads nothing from it.

Siri and the Action Button

Say “Start my workout in Ballast” to open today’s session, or “Export my Ballast log” to hand your full history to a shortcut as a CSV file. Both are also in the Shortcuts app, and Start Workout can be assigned to the Action Button. Exporting only works on an unlocked iPhone.

Moving my log from another app

Me → Import CSV reads a CSV file and merges it in — it adds the sessions you don’t have and changes nothing that is already there. A file exported from Ballast imports as it is. From another app, rename its columns so the file has Date, Exercise, Weight, Unit and Reps, and it will import too.

Switching between lb and kg — will I lose anything?

No. Every set keeps the weight and unit it was logged in, and switching in Me → Units changes what you see, never your history.

How do I delete a workout?

Open it from History, scroll to the bottom of the summary, and tap Delete workout. The sets go with it, and your plan stays as it is.

How do I delete everything?

Delete the app to remove everything stored on the iPhone. If iCloud sync was on, remove the iCloud copy in iOS Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage. Workouts already added to Apple Health are yours and stay there until you delete them in Health.

If you want a copy first, Me → Export CSV writes your whole history to a file. It is free.

Is this coaching or medical advice?

No. Ballast is a log that does the arithmetic on your own numbers — when to add weight, when to back off. It is not a medical device and gives no medical advice. If something about your training or your health concerns you, speak to a qualified professional.

Privacy

Ballast collects nothing. No account, no server, no analytics, no third-party code. Your training is stored on your iPhone and in your own private iCloud, which we hold no key to and cannot read.
